How does a commercial heat pump work?
A heat pump uses technology similar to that found in a refrigerator or an air conditioner. It extracts heat from a source, such as the surrounding air, geothermal energy stored in the ground, or nearby sources of water or waste heat from a factory. It then amplifies and transfers the heat to where it is needed.
Are heat pumps noisy?
Air source heat pumps operate at around 40 decibels and can get to 60 decibels if they are working very hard.
This is about the same level as an air conditioning unit or if you work near a road, this is quieter than light traffic noise.
How do heat pumps work in Winter?
Heat pumps work the exact same in winter as they do all year round. They use environmental energy (air, a local water source or the heat from the ground) to generate heat for your home and hot water. Here in the UK, the average temperature during winter is between 2° and 7° degrees celsius.
